A New Zealand bred cultivar, ‘Silver Knight’ is an outstanding blue compact hosta performing exceptionally well even in Northern New Zealand humidity.
Quickly forming a dense clump of foliage, ‘Silver Knight’ has an attractive clean foliage effect, new leaves are a strong blue fading to silver blue with age. Produces a display of pale mauve flowers in summer. This hosta appears to be slightly less susceptible to snails and slugs although as with all hostas it pays to protect from these pests in the spring as new foliage emerges. Hostas are winter dormant emerging from the ground in October/November in most regions.
.As with all Hostas ‘Silver Knight’ prefers a shaded position and provides lovely foliage interest to enhance the shade garden. Hostas are popular shade plants, preferring moist conditions, sandy loam soils and benefitting from the occasional feed with slow release fertiliser. Protect new shoots from slugs and
snails especially in spring.
