Rudbeckias are also known as ‘Black Eyed Susans’. A wonderful perennial to give vibrant and cheerful colour from late summer right through approximately 3 months of flowering into late Autumn/Winter. Rudbeckia ‘Little Goldstar’ is a new variety bred for an absolute abundance of gold flowers with a dark black central seed cone, on a neatly compact habit. Rudbeckia ‘Little Goldstar’ is more compact and has a greater flower volume than it’s leggy, taller counterparts like relative ‘Goldsturm’. This Rudbeckia sets a new gold standard for the category, and is sure to be on the gardener’s ‘must have’ list for Autumn colour. These will mix and match well with the Coreopsis ‘Mango Punch’ for a lovely Autumn display.
Rudbeckias enjoy sun to full shade and are tolerant of low water conditions once the root system is fully established but you should attend to watering regularly if planting in a container where there is a greater risk of drying out. If plants do wilt, soak thoroughly and they should recover well. Feed with slow release fertilisers for best flowering results. The vibrant yellow gold flowers will be attractive to butterflies and bees, and a range of bird life.
