Another superb new Shasta Daisy, Like ‘Paladin’ this Leucanthemum has a double ruffled petal form on strong upright stems. While ‘Paladin’ is a true white, Leucanthemum ‘Banana Cream’ as its name implies, opens as a lemon yellow lightening to butter-cream in full flower with a vibrant yellow eye. Gorgeous! ‘Banana Cream’ flowers all summer long, with masses of flower heads due to the plant’s characteristic of flowering from every axillary shoot. The habit of ‘Banana Cream’ is similar to ‘Paladin’ in that it is a compact, disease resistant plant. As a cutting flower the stems have an extended vase time of up to two weeks. Good in pots or in the border. Grow Leucanthemum ‘Banana Cream’ in full sun in well drained soil. If planted in an area with low to moderate soil fertility it will remain nice and compact. May require some support in richer soils. I notice it does prefer to be kept moist in the garden during the summer months. Remove spent flowers to encourage re-blooming.
