Tiarella

Tiarellas for a soft and magical ground cover

Tiarellas are a tough woodland ground cover with two sides to their personality. Firstly there is the tough, sculptural leaf form with heavy charcoal veining. And then there are the masses of soft, 'mist-like' flowers which when planted in a mass under trees look like you are walking through a cloud. Tiarellas are a woodland dweller, characterised by a strong growth performance and tendency to send out lateral growth and creep, though they are not invasive. Tiarellas like moist humus rich soils wth good organic matter content. They therefore like being under deciduous trees and also will enjoy a good application of mulch taking care not to cover the crowns of the plants.
