Brunnera

Brunnera for spectacular silver foliage

The Brunnera is a woodland plant favouring moist, shady conditions, where it will form a lush display of bright foliage contrast. Brunnera are sometimes referred to as False Forget-me-not, referring to the intense azure flowers. Plant Brunnera in combination with Hostas or with the many new colourful Heucheras for a shade garden with ‘wow factor’. Shade to part shade is the preferred position, noting that the more light or silvered the leaves the more shade will be required to avoid burning in sunlight. Plant in moist but well drained, organic soils. Brunnera require winter dormancy for growth and flowering, and will require some light in winter for best performance. Ideal therefore when planted under deciduous trees or shrubs.
