Lavender

Lavender is the ultimate flowering perennial

Lavendula is a very large genus of some 39 species of plants belonging to the mint family or Lamiaceae. The origins of lavenders are primarily the 'old world' but spreading across many continents from Europe across Africa, the Mediterranean, Asia and India. Lavenders as garden plants have been extremely popular for centuries, for their beautiful 'lavender blue' hues, their use as culinary herbs, for essential oil production and value as a hardy landscape and hedging plant. They are a 'staple' of the cottage and English perennial garden. Recent hybrids offer the very best of the varieties available crossed to produce even better habit and flower performance. They are one of the easiest of all perennials to grow, requiring little care apart from occasional cutting back to keep form and shape tidy and promote fresh flushes of flowers
